With our vast experience in biological treatment and sulfate removal, Apex Engineering serves as a technical consultant on this project, with an objective to remove sulfate from mining-impacted waters to meet strict State of Minnesota antidegradation standards. Bench tests and Phase I of field-scale pilot testing have successfully removed sulfate from low flows of mine water. Phase II is being undertaken in late 2013 and 2014 to utilize in situ bioreactors to remove sulfate from larger flows.
